Dr. Morales’s research interests include Native/Indigenous knowledge systems, Indigenous governance, Indigenous dispossession, Indigenous Queer Studies, Black and Native/Indigenous feminisms, and Public Humanities. She is currently working on a book manuscript, Coming intor Sovereingty: Women and Indigiqueer Youth Rejecting Heteropatriarchy, which is the first book that examines the 1.5-generation (US-raised) and second-generation (US-born) Mixtec and Zapotec women’s and queer youth’s self-determination practices that emerge in California’s Central Coast and Central Valley regions.
